    It appeared some bale twine got wrapped around the shaft and chewed out the seal, which dumped the oil and screwed up the gears and bearing. Bad luck. Next time use never sieze on the spline and thread, it works better than grease.

    Best time to do it is during the season you use it the least since it has to sit for weeks. I usually buy my 4-pack of 2gal (ea) at Costco. Buy 2 packs and dump 12gals in my tub

    That can't just be a reaction of the vinegar and the chlorine or something else like bonding to it?

    Duuuude... You can prevent that with regular maintenance 🤣. That is some funky goo for sure. I spray my filter off once a week to prevent this build up and use actual filter cleaner which is cheaper than $25 vinegar. Home depot sells gallon of vinegar for like $3.00 and 64 oz for $1.69ish. the filter cleaner I use is around $10 I think it's htc something like that. Major pool brand on Amazon.

    Adding vinegar to the spa will throw out the pH and is bad for the seals and plastic on the spa. It would be better to use a spa pool cleaner and then dump the water and refill. You only need to run the spa for an hour with the cleaner in before dumping the water.

    • @AmericanPaintballP
      @AmericanPaintballP 4 года назад

      I did this over 3 years ago and once more since then and I have no problem with my seals or plastic. Of coarse it throws the pH off (just put 5 gallons of vinegar in it) but when its done you drain and put fresh water and the normal chems back in. Spa cleaner works and is quicker, no doubt, but I find the vinegar to give my hot tub a deeper clean that I like to do around onces a year. But man you be you.

    • @opidopie
      @opidopie 3 года назад

      As a professional spa worker, I can say without a doubt that this is not a good option. As said, PH fluctuation will damaga certain parts of your spa. Don't be ignorant by saying you didn't have any problems (YET). Just use products that are made 4 this shit, and try not to get any dirt in your spa in the first place.

  • @stefaniecurry5804

    I would be worried that vinegar would rust the pipes. An old guy at Sears who worked on washing machines told me that he saw so many components rusted out due to cold water rinses with vinegar in the machines. Have you tried the cleaning agents made for hot tubs and they just didn’t work? We use Oh Yuk! from Amazon on jetted tub and spa and it works fine.

    • @AmericanPaintballP
      @AmericanPaintballP 5 лет назад

      All pipes and pieces are plastic in hot tubs (or most of them) and vinegar cleans out the pipes and rust on metal (lots of videos on vinegar and metal). Plus you drain out when you are done. Guy must have trying to sell you cleaning agents. Look I am not saying those don't work, I am just saying that Vinegar cleaned (and continues to clean) my hot tub REALLY good. Its has its pros and cons. But I have owned my hot tub for 6 years and this works the best for me.

      Clifton Mathews That’s great if you haven’t had any problems for 6 yrs! I had seen another video from a spa serviceman that said its bad for the seals though. I’m the last person looking for an argument though, not me, my friend. I guess I should’ve asked that as a question rather than a matter of fact statement. Do you. I’m tempted to use the vinegar as well after seeing all your gunk wow! I’ve never had anyone try to sell me anything. We ordered our spa from Wayfair and have had to learn everything all by myself. It’s a lot to learn and maintain. Much harder than a swimming pool for sure being that it’s a small and hot body of water. Peace and best wishes!!

      I think what this comment meant was, when you rinsed the filter off... it was in the same area, people trek back in to the tub, and they are essentially bringing in some of the filter scum, back in to the tub, due to the proximity of where you rinsed the filter at, for the purpose of this video.

      Yeah the knobs don't work like that. They only go on one way on the stem. They put the stem in upside down. Yes I could open up the Bbq, remove the burner stem, turn it the correct way and replace. I have tools and knowledge but that's not the point. They put it in upside down.

    You can bring this crap down to a minimum by telling everyone going into the tub to take a shower before getting in.. It is many things. Skin, hair, antiperspirant, body lotions, oil from your skin etc. When ever we had parties we asked that people did NOT wear antiperspirant and body lotions and hair conditioner... Most are headed home after hours in the tub anyway and the same are coming for the tub, so why bother wasting the crap to begin with.. Also, when cleaning we always turned off the AIR INJECTION.

    Hi Cliff, thanks for the video. I'm keen to try this but I have a couple of questions. Hopefully you can help. 1. When you say leave the hot tub running. Does that just mean keep it switched on and turn on the jets a few times each day? 2. Should I leave the hot tub open or will it be ok to close it? The cover is new so I don't want to ruin this. 3. Should i leave my filters in and just clean them every few days? Thanks for you help. Steff

    • @AmericanPaintballP
      @AmericanPaintballP 7 лет назад

      Hey Steff. Leave it running. You want that vinegar to move through the pipes. I closed mine and it didn't hurt my top but I did have to wipe it down as well. Filters in! They catch all the junk that comes out. Like I said, week one you will think this is a waste of time, week two you will see some junk but after that is when I started see lots of stuff coming out. Check and clean filters as needed. Let me how it works for you!
